Why gathering is necessary

Writer: ldsanonldsanon

From the beginning of the Church, the Gathering has been a priority. I recently discussed on Voat a historical cycle that was perceived by the ancient historian Tacitus. Tacitus saw that man’s society begins with anarchy—a world in which the strong exploit and rule the weak. Out of anarchy emerges monarchy as the weak legitimize the strongman as protector and guardian. Oligarchs, usually lesser nobles under the king overthrow or assassinate him and seize power. Out of oligarchy, democracy can sometimes arise. Democracy decays into corruption and vice as people allow liberty to be come licentiousness. Collapse follows and the cycle returns to anarchy.

The original poster of the Voat thread had asked for opinions on what would happen to all the “bad” people who would remain after a Q and Trump victory over the global Cabal. I related the above information and I received this comment from another forum member.

This is some bullsh*t from a baby boomer. In other words: "Maybe I'll get to live out a comfortable life.... then it becomes someone else's problem after I'm gone". This is why we hate you. You make a mess then hand it off to someone else to clean up. I hope you all die a miserable and painful death. Die!”

The hatred manifested in the presumably younger poster’s comments is fairly startling. This sort of misanthropic, nihilistic thinking pervades the millennial generation. This anger and resentment stems from a generation that grew up with a strong sense of entitlement and now finds that life isn’t going to hand them their dreams—that they are going to have to suffer and toil like every generation before them.

This is why the Gathering is going to be necessary. The hostility and hatred that lurks in the hearts of this generation is going to bring about a conflict that will resemble the final wars of the Nephites and Lamanites. This generation has been raised without a moral compass. It has not been taught that lying, stealing, and sexual immorality is wrong. It has been trained by liberal teachers and professors and conditioned by thousands of hours playing violent video games. It is a generation that lacks the competence and resilience to face life’s issues and move out of their parents’ homes to earn their way in the world. They will eat each other and try to eat us when the eventual collapse comes.

The saints have always been required to gather. We gather to strengthen one another. We gather to amass the resources to build temples to redeem the dead and receive endowments from heaven. We gather to prepare temporally. Like Joseph in Egypt, who gathered his family around him, we gather to outlast long-term difficulties that we would not be able to endure on our own. As a gathered people, we will be have the numbers to protect ourselves from the astonishingly wicked people of this generation.

I believe it was Lorenzo Snow that taught that the United Order would be like Noah’s Ark to us in our time—that principles of union would preserve and protect us when God’s judgments would come upon the world. Jesus said that the eagles would be gathered to the body—the Body of Christ—the True and Living Church.

This is where safety and a refuge from the storms are to be found. Stay faithful and follow the Spirit of God and the prophets. It's their world they're going to destroy, not Zion. Gather to Zion.
