In the scriptures, the Lord teaches us about light and truth. He tells us that the light of the body is the eye and that, if one is good and holy, the light shines through. If one is evil, the darkness of the spirit shows through in the eyes. Likewise, there seems to be a difference between the behavior of people that occurs between day and night. It is arguable that temptation comes in the night moreso than in daylight. During the day, our minds are caught up with the business of the day, but in the night spiritual temptations seem to have greater allure.
I play music and, many years ago, I used to perform with bands. Unfortunately, most of the paying gigs for music are in establishments were alcohol is served and the patrons hang around well into the wee hours of the night. It is in those times I noted that people are most likely to drop their inhibitions and do things they ought not to do. It is in those hours, in the absence of physical light, when flirtations turn into fornication, faithfulness to spouse slips away into adultery, and virtue is abandoned for vice. Almost all vices are stronger at night.
It leads me to ask, is there a connection between physical light and spiritual light? Is it just the diurnal rhythm that is encoded into the flesh that weakens resolve at night? Is there a psychological instinct that beguiles us to believe our sins go unnoticed in the shadows? Or, is there a diminution of spiritual power that occurs when the body and might ought to be slumbering peacefully.
Consider some of the machinations that occur even on a grand scale in the hours of the night. The trial of Jesus Christ took place at night, a procedure that violated Jewish law. Yet the evil Sanhedrin, scribes, and lawyers could not brave to arrest Jesus in the day and try him while the sun shown. No, they waited until the depths of the night.
Likewise, the U.S. Congress has passed some very controversial bills, making corrupt deals behind closed doors as the hours ticked by, only to finally reach agreement in the late hours and hold the vote late at night, while their constituents slept. I’m currently watching these corrupt criminals debate the certification of the Electoral College votes for the 2020 election. Senator McConnell said the combined House and Senate would meet tonight between 11:30 and 12:00 midnight to conclude their vote. Considering the political machinations of the day, a false flag attack on the Capitol, and their unwillingness to actually review evidence of the massive voter fraud that has taken place, it appears that they are going to do a midnight vote to hand the Presidency over to Joe Biden, a corrupt criminal and agent of Communist China.
It seems that this vote could only take place at night, a vote that essentially guarantees America’s subversion and the possible provocation of civil war. No, it is only in the moment when the wicked believe heaven sleeps and does not observe their sins that they choose to act. As of this moment, I know not how the vote will go. It is apparent though that many who sided with patriots have betrayed us. The traitors, criminals, grifters, and pedophiles in the halls of power think that their actions go unnoticed by Heaven. They should understand that God does not sleep. All people are sinners and repentance is available to all, but they who fight against the light prefer to act when it is least powerful. Those who seek to hide their actions will have them exposed in the light of day soon enough.
