In the Book of Mormon we read about Helaman's stripling warriors, a group of young Lamanite men who were drawn into a war to save their people. Their parents had been part of a bloodthirsty culture, and upon conversion to Christ, they foreswore violence and made a covenant with God that they would henceforth be pacifists. When their hateful brethren came upon them in battle, the older generation who had made this covenant refused to fight. They would rather be slain at the hands of their enemies rather than fight.
When it became clear that they would be destroyed, the Nephites placed them in a land where they could protect them. When war became grievous, the Lamanites' sons--those who had not entered into the covenant--volunteered to step up and protect their parents' generation. They exhibited great faith and they believed that God would protect them because of their faith and the rightness of their cause.
We Latter-day Saints don't want to fight anyone. We have sought the road of conciliation with our critics time and time again. Only when it was determined that our enemies became an existential threat to us, we acted in our defense. We learned a terrible lesson from the Mountain Meadows Massacre, wherein our paranoia and defensiveness led some of our people to strike back for past wrongs against innocent people.
Today we face a new threat. Antifa, BLM, and other Democrat-connected radicals are seeking to overthrow our freedom. They are part of a secret combination that threatens the liberty of all nations, just as the Book of Mormon warned us. They are violent and authoritarian. There is no compromising with them. We are going to have to fight them. They will not accept any overtures of peace that dont include our surrender to their demands.
Our attitude must be that of Helaman's stripling warriors. When asked if they were prepared to battle against their enemies, they replied, "[W]e would not slay our brethren if they would let us alone..." (Alma 56:46). The leftist mobs will not leave us alone. If a policeman has to use justified deadly force on a non-white suspect, they will riot. If we hold a peaceful rally, they will provoke fights. If we attempt to legally recall Democrats in office, they will react with violence (as is happening now in my community). Their elected officials blocked the state GOP convention in Houston. They are pushing to stop the national GOP convention in Florida over Covid fears, after the Dem governor of North Carolina acted to cancel the event. They will use the power of the legislation, the courts, and the executive to silence opposition and hem us up. If they take away every legal, peaceful, civil way of voicing our opposition and rallying against them, what option is left?
"We would not slay our brethren if they would let us alone."
The time is rapidly approaching when this is our only remaining option. Do not be blind to it. Open your eyes and see what is coming. You and I are going to need to fight them, because they will not leave us alone. You need to get your guns ready. You may need to relocate to a safer area. You need to have food storage and emergency supplies. Civil war is coming. It has been prophesied by our past leaders, by people we believe to be apostles and prophets. It is at the doors even now. Be prepared. Be wise as serpents, but harmless as doves. As Pahoran, leader of the Nephites wrote to Captain Moroni in Alma, chapter 61:
11 We would not shed the blood of our brethren if they would not rise up in rebellion and take the sword against us.
12 We would subject ourselves to the yoke of bondage if it were requisite with the justice of God, or if he should command us so to do.
13 But behold he doth not command us that we shall subject ourselves to our enemies, but that we should put our trust in him, and he will deliver us.
14 Therefore, my beloved brother, Moroni, let us resist evil, and whatsoever evil we cannot resist with our words, yea, such as rebellions and dissensions, let us resist them with our swords, that we may retain our freedom, that we may rejoice in the great privilege of our church, and in the cause of our Redeemer and our God.
(Alma 61:11-14, emphasis added)
We Latter-day Saints need to stand for our religious liberty. The klaxon is sounding. The battle is about to be upon us. We need not initiate hostility, but we must be prepared to defend our families and our freedoms, most particularly our rights to speech and to free exercise of religion.
